WHAT IS WMS?

It is a MEMS inertial unit that mounts directly onto a vehicle wheel. It is a self-contained device - it has a battery, a Bluetooth radio channel and it makes the calculations in real time on its own

WHAT WMS MEASURES?

The WMS measures the instantaneous speed of the wheel rotation, wheel rotation angle, the number of revolutions of the wheel, heading of the wheel and, if the wheel diameter is specified, it gives the speed, the path traveled by the wheel and the coordinates of the wheel relative to the beginning of the path

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The WMS uses patented algorithms for inertial data processing during rotation - this allows obtaining a solution that is far more accurate than the common-to-use wheel ticks.

DOES WMS WORK IN REAL TIME?

Yes, all sensor processing is done inside the WMS and the real-time solution, that can be customized for every user, is transmitted via Bluetooth (BLE). Also, all WMS units have a built-in memory card that records all the raw data for possible post-processing

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THE «RAW» DATA?

The **«**raw**»** data from gyroscopes and accelerometers is recorded at high frequency on an internal memory card and can be used to build custom navigation or dynamics monitoring algorithms. You can, for example, use it to obtain a more accurate solution when processing on a computer in post-processing mode using Kalman filtering (EKF). And we can also help with this!

DOES WMS HAVE A BUILD-IN BATTERY?

Yes, the WMS has a built-in rechargeable battery, and it can operate autonomously for up to 8 hours without recharging. We also have versions of the WMS with an extended battery pack that can operate for up to 30 days, and even a wired version for some very specific and custom applications

IS WMS BIG?

Yes and no. The WMS had rather been developed as a technology demonstrator that is both convenient for user operate and for us to maintain and support. We can either make it smaller for specific customer applications, or make it larger to increase the built-in battery or to additionally protect the unit against external hits, impacts, moist/dirt etc.

HOW DO I INSTALL WMS ON MY WHELL?

Each wheel is different, but we can recommend how to mount the WMS for each specific case. We recommend it to be rigidly fixed closer to the center of rotation of the wheel, for example through an intermediate plate, which is attached to the bolts of the wheel itself

DOES WMS PROVIDE GPS COORDINATES?

No. There is no GNSS receiver inside the WMS units. WMS is truly an inertial sensor and, like all inertial systems, it provides a relative solution. For example, relative coordinated in respect to some initial point (start of the path). Therefore, if you need absolute coordinates or position solution, you need to integrate the WMS solution with GNSS-based systems

IS IT POSSIBLE TO INtEGRATE YOUR WMS TO 3-rd PARTY SOFTWARE?

Yes, we can develop additional drivers or parsers for easy integration of our sensors into your systems, for example to NovAtel Inertial Explorer or to other mapping programs

HOW MANY UNITS CAN YOU MAKE IN A YEAR?

A lot! We can make one WMS, or two, or we can make a million - it all depends on the customer's requirements. There are no critical, irreplaceable, or hard-to-acquire parts in the design, it is all COTS components
